Lake House 2014

It's October 18th today. It's not that cool outside yet, but the leaves and acorns are falling fast. People are insisting on wearing sweaters and boots even though, seriously, the high today in RVA is 75. Not EXACTLY sweater weather, but people want their fall, yo. And I understand. I really do.

Starbucks is pushing Pumpkin Spice Lattes, we're making plans to go pumpkin picking next week, we're working on halloween costumes, I made my first batch of pumpkin muffins last week and I actually had a conversation yesterday about what to cook for Thanksgiving. It's fall. It's here.

Which means that juuuuust enough time has passed that when I look back at our pictures from this year's summer vacation, they are especially sweet. Laced with the faint smell of sunscreen, the warmth of the sun on our shoulders, the sound of kids laughing and splashing, and the great gift of an entire week away from responsibilities, and with my family.

The only thing missing from that blessed week? A legit whole-family picture.

Ah, well. I suppose we'll just have to go back next year and do it all again.
